Fall 2025: 2nd Thurdays, 2nd Saturdays, from 10:45~12:15 Upcoming Thursday dates: 9/18、10/16、11/20、12/18 Upcoming Saturday dates: 9/13, 10/11、11/8、12/6 In the relaxed at-home atmosphere that our chapel provides, Joyful English Cafe includes English conversation lessons, a Bible talk, and even singing (singing hymns in English). We hope to have a fun time of study, conversation, and interaction over a cup of delicious coffee (or tea). The teacher is Mrs. Christa Cox (Watanabe). Christa has lived in Japan for over 45 years and is familiar with Japanese language and culture. She is a certified English teacher and has taught English in international schools throughout Japan. Christa holds a Master of Arts in Cross-Cultural Mission MACM/MAIS (2021). She hopes to share the love and grace of Jesus Christ with the people of Japan through teaching English and sharing from the Bible. At Joyful English Cafe at Kosugi Chapel, in addition to using the English they have learned for real conversation and pronunciation checks, participants can broaden their learning by singing hymns in English and Japanese and listening to topics from the Bible. Our desire is to have a fun time together with you through English lessons over coffee or tea, while sharing the joy we have in Christ. Depending on the needs and level of the participants, we will organize groups by level from beginner to advanced, and decide on the textbook and content. There are three semesters per year. Twice monthly, Mondays, 3:45~4:30pm. Fall semester 2025 has started: 9/29、10/27、11/10、11/17 and 12/1. Mini Recital 12/15 ♪ Kids get to sing popular gospel songs (children’s English gospel music) together with others as a mini kids choir. This class is open to elementary kids grades 1~3. Please contact us if your child is outside this age range. The director is Mrs. Heidi Skipper (Finland). She holds a master’s degree in music education from the Sibelius Academy in Finland, where she majored in violin. She arrived in Japan as a missionary in 2010, along with her English husband, Dave, and their children. Heidi has been working with the HGF Gospel Choir and kids for many years. Heidi is a friendly teacher who brings a wealth of experience in music education, as well as a loving mother to her own children. Her lessons in both English and Japanese are thorough, easy to understand, and very enjoyable. She teaches kids gospel music in various locations with the desire to share God’s love with families through their involvement in kids gospel music. Gospel music is “rejoicing in the good news of a good God.” So, we also have a Bible story time when we learn who God is that we sing about, how we can get to know Him and sing about Him even more joyfully. There are two semesters a year, and the fee is 1000 yen per session. Textbooks and practice CDs (500 yen each) are available to those who wish to join. Coming to just observe is always free and welcomed. Twice monthly, Mondays, 3:45~4:45pm. Fall 2025: 9/22、10/6、10/22(Wed), 11/12(Wed), 11/24、12/8, Mini Recital 12/15 ♪ Joyful Kids is an English club for elementary kids grades 1~3. The program includes fun and easy English speaking, interactive games, catchy songs, storybook reading, and crafts. The main teacher is Mr. Kevin, a native English speaker and missionary at Kosugi Chapel. We plan to use our experience of teaching English to many kids to create a fun, energetic, and confidence-building interaction in English. As an English club held at a church, we also include a “Bible Story Time” along with the English lessons. More information will be posted later. Look forward to it with your kids!

Here’s a place to study the Bible as a small group. We gather once a month. The Bible is said to be an eternal bestseller, but it’s not always easy to read it alone and understand everything well. It’s good to study the Bible together in a small group, use a simple textbook, listen to the explanations, and share our observations and thoughts. In the process, we discover many new things, and through sharing these discoveries with each other, we come to know God more deeply. The beauty of small group Bible study is that it allows us to discuss and connect God’s word to our lives more deeply, it encourages us to keep going, and builds close relationships with others in the group. Chatting over coffee/tea and meals are relaxed opportunity to feel closer to each other and closer to God. There’s something special about interacting with friends with God at the center. Whether you’re new to church, new to reading the Bible, or have attended a small group before, we gladly welcome you. Please come and join us!

Beginners Bible

This is where to start. We offer a beginner’s class for those who are new to church or new to the Bible. You can learn the basics about the Bible, faith, and church in easy-to-understand lessons. We welcome anyone is interested in learning more about Christianity and the church. Even if you’re not sure whether you can continue very long, but would like a short opportunity (a limited number of sessions) to explore what the Bible teaches, we welcome you! We will discuss the best dates and times, explain the textbook content being used, and adjust to your needs regarding the frequency and duration of the study together. Once monthly, every third Sunday from 10:45am. Please join us next time on October 19, 2025 (Sun). We welcome you! Church is a place for worshipping God and a gathering of people who worship God. At Kosugi Chapel, we consider the time when we come together for worship to be the most precious time of all. Worship is a time to put aside all worries, stress, and busyness in our hearts and lives, and focus on God and His message to us. We offer ourselves and our time to God through reading the Bible, singing, praying, and listening to a message together. We’re united by our belief in God, and his grace at the cross of Christ, as revealed in His Word, the Bible. We also share God’s love and grace and receive strength and encouragement through prayer, fellowship, and sharing together with those who gather. Come to Kosugi Chapel to sing songs and hymns, pray, listen to Bible messages, and worship God together!
